A new site aligned with our vision
Technology is not going away. What technology do we need?
Building together the tools for ecological and social transition
Our vision: a useful and human technology
Put simply: more than ever, the transition from a conservative society to a society that must deconstruct, reinvent and adapt itself is necessary. Whether it is about democratic rights, ecological transition or mobility, we need common tools and shared know-how for this.
Why? Because only the commons ensure shared responsibility for resources and decisions. In other words, they allow us to move from a society based on competition to one based on cooperation.
For an inclusive and pragmatic innovation
Not a digital agency, a committed startup studio
Initially defined as a lean startup studio in 2016, octree has continually refined its direction to eventually adopt the position of sustainable startup studio.
Its approach differs from agencies in that it has a radically pragmatic (lean startup) and incremental strategy, positioning itself as a project owner and not as a service provider.
Sovereignty and free technologies:
open data 🫰 open governance 🫰 open source
From do it yourself (DIY) to do-it-with-others (DIWO)
We need more than ever a technology that is not controlled by one person, and that serves the goals of social and ecological transition.
Digital sobriety requires digital commons: open data, democratic governance of our technologies (open and participatory) and open code (open source) not only limit our footprints, but also build the conditions for shared responsibility.
This approach allows us to produce alternative businesses and organizational models for viable, pragmatic and sovereign digital innovation.
